What is Baptism?
Baptism is a symbol of the new covenant of grace as circumcision was the symbol of the old covenant; and, since infants are recognized as being included in the atonement, they may be baptized upon the request of parents or guardians who shall give assurance for them of necessary Christian training. They shall be required to affirm the vow for themselves before being accepted into church membership.
Water baptism is a sacrament of the church, commanded by our Lord, signifying acceptance of the benefits of the atonement of Jesus Christ to be administered to believers as a declaration of their faith in Jesus Christ as Savior.
Expectations
Parents of a child candidate should have a sincere interest in the church, be commited to raising their child in the Christian faith by bringing the to worship, giving them oppportunity to learn through Sunday School, and being an active part of the community of faith.
Adult baptism candidtes should have a sincere interest in the church and be committed to growing their Christian faith by regularly attending Sunday Worship Services, bible studay, and being an active participant of the community of faith.
Procedures
After recieving you request for baptism, the LCC office will contact the candidate and confirm baptism dates. Please download or print the Baptism documents, in preparation for you baptism ceremony.
The pastor or assiting elder willl contact the candidate for baptism, at least 48 hours prior to the baptism ceremony.
The Sacrament of Baptism is an act of worship, and will take place during regular worship service, unless prior arrangements are made with the church. The baptism candidate's name will be added to our Record of Baptism in the church office.
